Sarruma Workshops

Sarruma is looking towards 2008 already, and we really can’t believe how fast this year has gone!

We would like to welcome a new member to the Sarruma project, who goes by the name of Rebecca Sanderson. When we met Rebecca we were astonished with the skills she possesses. She also has the kind nature that is on the same level as our laid-back yet serious approach to life.

Sarruma Workshops; now this is not a new concept within our society but we believe we can offer a fresh and youthful approach to what can be a highly rewarding experience for all concerned. We are looking at ways of bringing the youth of today to a higher level, where violence is not needed and where an individual's creativity can be brought to life with a little time and understanding, Here at Sarruma we have many skills that we want to share with everyone, so our workshops will be community focused and will hopefully run once a week depending on their success. We have many ideas of what workshops to run, including: -

Design & make your own garment - This will consist of the group learning how to make their own designs from scratch using the latest in computer graphics software, before learning the different ways in which the design can be placed onto a garment of their choice. After successfully putting the design onto the garment and finishing it to a high quality, you will be wearing a unique piece of clothing that no-one else on this planet owns.

Design & manufacture your own accessories - This workshop will be held by Rebecca. She will show you how to make your own bags from anything from old clothes that you may have outgrown or all those hand me downs that you never really wanted! Anything is possible with this workshop. if you always wanted a Calvin Klein handbag, bring an old pair of CK jeans down and you will, by the end of the workshop be the proud owner of a designer handbag!
